Helpem Fren – Rebuilding a Pacific Nation

This feature length documentary was directed by Mark Power and Michael Bainbridge in 2013. It documents how one of Australia’s closest neighbours – the Solomon Islands, was at risk of becoming a ‘failed state’.

The film showcases the architects of the program: the former Prime Minister of Australia John Howard, and the former Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands, Sir Allan Kemakeza. In 2003, Australia and the Pacific Islands Forum approved the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands, a $2 billion program to supply aid, security forces and governance interventions over 10 years.
